4 ways to include Threadless in your home decor

June 15th, 2008

Threadless
Threadless started with a simple concept:  let the audience design and vote on t-shirts that they want to wear.  Using this philosophy, the company has sold hundreds of t-shirts and complimentary products featuring original artwork.  But, this site does not focus on tees, it focuses on home decor.  So, I am going to show you four ways to use the wealth of original art at Threadless to decorate your home.

1.  T-shirt Frames - This is the obvious first choice.  A quick search on Google will provide you with a number of ways to accomplish this task.  The pros at HGTV provide a quick tutorial on how to make it a quick DIY project.  And, Urban Outfitters sells pre-made solutions for the less handy man.

2.  Threadless Prints - Threadless recently ventured into the print making business and has began offering some of their most popular t-shirts as prints.  The initial offerings start at $35 (and sometimes on sale for as low as $30).  The prints, like the shirts, are gender neutral and would look good hanging on any wall.

3.  Threadless Display Art - This is one of the more expensive options in the list.  At $250 (+shipping), you can purchase original art made by their on staff grafitti artist Joe Suta.  Three pieces are released each week based on the popular t-shirt designs of the week.  I am always a fan of original art.  For guys, grafitti art has a nice urban vibe that would look good on a loft wall (or even a townhouse wall in the suburbs).

4.  Naked & Angry - Naked & Angry is a lesser known subsidiary of skinnyCorp (the company behind Threadless).  Naked & Angry sells ties and wallpaper created by select artists.  The wallpaper looks good on walls, but it also provides good material to make some unique art.  To turn the wallpaper into wall art, you can: (1) frame it and hang in multiples or (2) wallpaper it onto a shallow box of MDF.  The first option is easier, but I think the second one provides a more dramatic effect (Look for a tutorial on this site in the future to give you the step-by-step process).

Update:  I completely missed the Blik Threadless Wall Graphics.  This is another great way to add art from Threadless in your home.  As a huge fan of 80s music, I especially enjoy the 99 Luftballons graphic.  [via uncrate].
