Continuing on the theme of an earlier post, I thought it might be interesting to implement the shadow box idea using one of my favorite action figures—the Dude. The required materials for this project are (1) one Dude, (2) some nails, and an (3) $8 shadow box frame from Target. To construct, simply hang the frame and place the Dude inside.
I think a guys room should be well thought out, but not necessary serious. So, have fun with it.

Browsing through the Fall 2008 catalog for Crate and Barrel, I came across the Steele Sofa and accompanying chair. The grey-brown weave fabric is not only durable, but it also has an interesting texture. And, the sleek steel legs make the sofa seem as if it it is floating off the ground. Pair this with some bright pillows and some cool art, and you have the perfect start to any room.

I was looking around for a magazine rack last night and stumbled upon this Recycled Magazine Mirror from Walmart. It is made by weaving recycled magazines together. This creates a unique look that makes good use of discarded goods.
At only $38.88, it is a cheap way to add some visual interest to your walls.

West Elm has put a major emphasis on industrial design this season. Earlier, we featured their industrial office centerpiece—the SawHorse Work Table. Now, we take a look at the perfect accessory—the Lug Nut Bookends. It is both functional and stylish. I can’t think of a better way to hold up your books than an over-sized piece of hardware.
At $34 a pair, it is an inexpensive way to display your book collection.

I have been meaning to write about the Philips Living Colors Lamp for awhile now, and when I came across this GeekAlerts post, I figured now was as a good time as any. Basically, the lamp consists of an LED that can produce 256 distinct colors. I personally dig the lamp because of its sleek, minimalist design. It would also come in handy to create a club-like feel in your house for parties. It looks like it will be under $200 when it comes out. So, it might not be a bad addition to your home decor.

If you have been looking for the perfect media center PC to complete your media room, the Dell Studio Hybrid might fit the bill. It features a wonderful design and several color options to fit your decor. It one-ups its nearest competition by providing an HDMI out standard. It even has a Blu-ray configuration option for $250 more.
The bare-bones system starts at $499. But, I would suggest adding some RAM and upgrading to Vista Home Premium to get Windows Media Center—it provides a stunning media experience on a flat panel HDTV.

As a juxtaposition to the last post, Elsewares now offers albums as frames with their Vintage Record Frame from Vinylux. It is the newest part of their vintage album collection. (We featured a bowl made from Elsewares in a previous post). It is shown above with a picture of a mountain. But, I think it would also be cool to hold pictures of your favorite bands, concerts, etc.
The frame measures 7″ square. And, the cutout has an inner diameter of 4.25″ to hold a picture of your choice. At $22, it is a cheap way to add a conversation piece to your home.

Album frames are a great way to add visual interest to your walls. Pictured above are frames from Urban Outfitters. As Urban demonstrates above, you do not necessarily have to put your favorite albums on display. You can go with a theme or even choose random albums based on colors or aesthetics.
Album frames look great in groups and can be used in just about any room. The frames are $15. And, you can probably pick up cheap album covers at your local music store. Luckily, some good stores still exist.

It seems like a lot of people that come to this site via Google are looking for some media room ideas. So, to appease the masses, here is the Threadless Spoilt Print by Oliver Moss. It is the perfect start to your media room. It features spoilers for 15+ (sorry, I didn’t count) of your favorite films. At $35, it is a steal for original art. But, act fast because the first edition is only a run of 250.
Note: for more ways to incorporate Threadless art in your home, check out 4 ways to use Threadless for home decor (yeah, I pimp my own articles).
